Tech Tips for Jan. 25-29

Image
Hello, Blog Followers. Needless to say, it has been pretty busy the past couple of weeks! So I'm keeping this week's tech tips fairly light. If you missed my email yesterday, I am offering open office hours to assist folks with backing up on Friday from 7:30AM to Noon. In order to connect with me, you just need to stop by the coaches office hours on Google Meet . And, on that note, the 6-12 coaches have joined forces to have one Google Meet to help support any of our teachers with open office hours. At least one of us will aim to be in the Google Meet (nickname 6-12-coaches) every week day from 7:30AM to 2PM (unless we have another meeting). Let me know if you have any questions. Please reach out to me if you have any questions. I am more than happy to help! Sincerely,  Susie Simmons Technology Coach for  Bonny Eagle Middle School & High School    Make an appointment with me!    Ed.S. Instructional Technology, M.Ed. Information about our new Macbook Airs

Image
I have been getting lots of questions about the new laptops the teachers are getting. In an effort to share the information with everyone, I wanted to share the information more widely here. Macbook Air (Model A2337) Chipset: M1 Memory: 16GB Hard Drive: 250GB Ports: 2 USB C The technology department has ordered a hub for every teach to give you all of the ports that you will need. The hubs have been ordered and should be available when you pick up your laptop in February. If you want to order a hub for yourself so you can leave one at school with everything plugged in, here is everything that I have ordered for myself  including the hub the district has ordered. If you want to purchase a case for the laptop, you can find all of the options on Amazon via this link . I hope this helps!

How to check your sound preferences for using the Poly Studio

Image
Sometimes your Mac might get a bit confused with the Poly Studio and not pass the correct settings along to your computer from Google Meet. So, I wanted to pass along screenshots of the correct settings so that you can verify that that everything is set correctly if you are having problems. Check your settings in Google Meet Click on the three dots in the bottom right hand corner of the screen in Google Meets and select "Settings". Your settings for the "Audio" portion should have Polycom Studio selected for both the microphone and the speakers. Your settings for the "Video" portion should have Polycom Studio selected for the camera. Check your settings in Apple's System Preferences Click on the "Apple" icon in the very top left hand corner of your screen on your Mac. Then select "System Preferences..." Click on the "Sound" icon. Click on the "Output" button and verify that "Polycom Studio" is selected
