Week 3 Update & Wrap Up

Hi, Blog Followers!
You are all rockstars! I cannot begin to express how proud I am of all of you who have been climbing mountains in the past three weeks. Can you believe how much we have all grown in our technology skills in the past three weeks? I have truly loved working with so many teachers during this journey. We are lucky to be a part of this awesome community.
  • The Tech Coaches are excited to release a brand new site to serve as a time capsule for our community as we go through this experience. The COVID-19 BE Time Capsule is a space for staff, students, and community members to submit their primary source artifacts of their personal experiences with the global COVID-19 pandemic. Please share the site with your students so that they can submit artifacts and feel free to incorporate it into your lessons. Check out the site for more information, the inspiration for the project, and ideas of what to submit. We are planning to assemble a multimedia ebook of the submissions to serve as a historical record of our shared experience.
  • You can find the BE Remote Learning website here. The list of free tools that we have available has also grown a lot. If you have a tool that you would like us to look into, just let me know. We also revised the resource page to make it easier to find what you are looking for by using the grade or subject tabs.
  • Be sure to check out the Workshop page. Here is an updated list of offerings:
    1. ⚠️Student Tech Help Office Hours w/ Mrs. Simmons These sessions were not utilized, so I will be discontinuing them next week. Please remove them from your Google Classrooms.
    2. Hallway Chats with Stephen & Friends are offered EVERY DAY from 9 to 10AM. They are hosted by Stephen Avery, one of the instructional coaches at BEMS, and gives you a way to drop in and get help with whatever you need. (If you haven't met Stephen, you really should say hi. He's super awesome!) If available, I join him in there to hang out and collaborate with him. It's a good time.
    3. Coach Office Hours are offered EVERY DAY from noon to 2PM and are hosted by me. If you need help with anything from gradebook, Google Classroom, classroom management, assignments... the list goes on... jump in and get help. I have really enjoyed hanging out with lots of folks and it has been fun making connections with folks from across the district. If needed, I can also move into a private "room" in Zoom if needed.
    4. Workshop Wednesday is new next week! Every Wednesday at 4PM I will be holding a workshop covering a topic that should help you tackle everything under this "new normal". Check out the calendar to see what the topic is. If you cannot make it, check the calendar event afterwards to get a link to the "replay". There is also a YouTube playlist on the Workshop page to watch past sessions.
If I can do anything at all to support you, just let me know. I'm here for you!

Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. You guys are awesome!

Sincerely,
Susie Simmons
