Live Polling in Google Slides!

I know that so many people love using Google Drive for the convenience, collaboration, and ease of sharing. But, when it comes to Slides, there are several things that teachers have been looking for. Polling and quizzing within your presentation is a top contender.

Well, I just found out today that Poll Everywhere is aiming to solve that request (assuming you are a Google Chrome user)!

Poll Everywhere just released a Polling in Google Slides extension for Chrome. When you install it, a Poll Everywhere button will appear in your Slides toolbar giving you the options to insert a poll that exists in your Poll Everywhere account already or the ability to create a new one.

Once you have inserted your poll, you won't actually be able to see it until you are presenting the Slides and have the poll turned on in your Poll Everywhere account. Otherwise you wind up with a screen that looks like this:

It looks like a great solution for those of you that want to retain any transitions, links, collaboration, editing capabilities, or videos that you would normally lose by taking the presentation in PDF form and importing it into Nearpod, Pear Deck, or GoFormative.

Let me know if you try it!

If the student is showing up as red in your gradebook though, you can hide them so you don't have to worry about them. Here is a screenshot to help you do it:

Keynote Interactivity (and my 200th post)

When I talked with teachers about Nearpod last week, there was a teacher at the highschool who really wants to keep his animations within Keynote while having the interactivity like Nearpod . I told him that I'd look into it to see what was possible. Short story: I'm not having any luck at all.

Build with Chrome (Lego Building Time!)

If you are like me, you spent countless hours when you were young building with legos . If you were a parent of kids like me, you spent countless hours vacuuming up those little pieces or hunting for them with your bare feet in the middle of the night (ouch!). When I heard about Build with Chrome yesterday, you can understand why my eyes lit up. What is Build with Chrome? It's this:
