Hi, Blog Followers! Thank you to all of the teachers in the past week who have invited me into their classes. Hi, Blog Followers! Before digging into my quick Techie Tuesday for this week, I wanted to give a special shout out to the AP teachers at the high school. I have been going in to observe their classes this week to help them with teaching their remote learners and in person students at the same time. It has been an awesome experience for me and I am so thrilled to be able to get into classrooms. If you'd like me to do the same for you, just book me for a feedback session and I'll come hang out and give you some thoughts for how to make it all easier for you and solve any little hiccups you might be experiencing. Without further ado, here is my list of 4 quick tips to get you through this we ek: Let me know what you think! If you have any questions, just let me know. I am always here to help! How to set up Synergy Email forwarding and signatures

How to Set Up Email Forwarding Log in to Synergy and then hover on home and click on "Synergy Mail" In Synergy Mail, click on the "More" drop down above your message list. Click the check box for the one option on the screen. Click save. Set Up Email Signature Follow through step 2 above except select "Edit Signatures". On the screen that appears, you have two spaces to fill in with your signature: Because replies sent to this message from their email, I would recommend modifying the signatures to reflect that. Here is a suggestion: "Please do not reply to this message. Replies to this message are routed to an unmonitored mailbox. If you have questions please email me directly at..."

Google Meet Updates for tomorrow

Image
Hi, Blog Followers! I know this is off my usual goal of sending only one email to you per week. However, there are a couple things I wanted to make sure you were aware of before doing your Google Meets tomorrow. Built in blurry background was announced 2 days ago . It will be hitting your account within the next 13 days. It will not be available on Chromebooks. More information about how to use it can be found on their blog post here . When you view the people tab, you can mute students . However, the student is the only one who can unmute themselves because of privacy concerns (allowing you to hear something that you shouldn't be privy to). If you have a student who is in your room and should not be, you can click on the remove button when you find them in your people list . Removing them will PREVENT THEM FROM RETURNING. So don't do it to students that are supposed to be in your class. :) New moderation controls have been released since last week. If you are the host of the

BEHS First Remote Friday Feedback Tech Answers

Image
Hi, Everyone! Last week the high school asked their teachers to provide feedback on the first Remote Friday. Going through all of the responses, there are a number of issues or questions pertaining to technology integration. So, in order to provide my feedback in one easy place, I thought it might be easiest to answer everything in one blog post. Any of the text you see in italics below are the questions pulled directly from the feedback. My response then follows. I did my best to group similar questions all together. Please reach out if you have any questions or make an appointment with me if you'd like help learning the tech tools, planning your Friday classes, or if you'd like me to co-teach with you so that you can get adjusted to the tech heavy environment. "It would be nice if there was a way to see my students while I was presenting/sharing my screen." "I wanted a way to see the kids while in presentation mode and to have something to track when they logi

FAQs & quick hit tech tips to start the 2020-21 school year

Image
With all of my meetings with teachers over the past week, I have had lots of questions involving technology and I said I would research and get back to everyone with answers. So, here are my answers to those questions! Can we still use Flipgrid? Their terms of use have been sent along to the district's lawyers to verify that we would still be able to use it. Fingers crossed we receive a response soon! I thought we were getting licenses for Gimkit and Edpuzzle. We are getting licenses for Gimkit and Edpuzzle, but do not have a student data privacy agreement from either yet and cannot buy a license until we have that in hand.
